Two small steps forward

Hi everyone!  By this point we were really hoping to be able to tell you that we’d been matched with Riya’s children, but unfortunately that hasn’t happened yet.  However, we do have two pieces of good news to share.

First, we are over half way to our funding goal!  That’s very encouraging, and we feel very blessed to have such generous support from all of you.  We’ve started the process of applying for grants, so we are hopeful that they can be a good source of funding for us too.

Second, we’ve been disappointed that the children have been in the orphanage for so long without yet having the opportunity to be matched with an adoptive family (hopefully us!).  It turns out there was a delay in this process due to the orphanage being especially thorough in preparing the required paperwork in a way that meets all agencies’ requirements.  We have been told that the orphanage is now ready to proceed with submitting the paperwork necessary to make the children available for adoption.  We still have no idea how long that will take, but it’s encouraging just to know that things are progressing.
